Hi everyone, I will be away in Cambodia from tomorrow onwards, from 1 to 11 September. I will still be contact-able by phone or sms, but it will cost quite a bit, so only contact me should there be a calamity. I will definitely miss this sunny island, my dear home. More details of my [...]

The Escapade
Today was my mum’s birthday, so my family went on a escapade around places which we haven’t been to for ages. We left the house at 10am this morning for the SAFRA Yishun Country Club – I’ve not been there for almost a year and a half. I brought along my camera, and the adventure [...]

Batam Island
I made a trip with my family to Batam island, which is in Riau Islands Province of Indonesia, last weekend. The 415 km² (160 miles²) island has a population of 713,960 in December 2006[1], most of whom are Malays (85%) and Chinese (14%). A few indigenous Orang Laut tribes also live on the island. BBQ under my umbrella
Met up with a nice big group of real nice friends for a BBQ last night, but the weather was definitely not too good. It rained quite heavily as we were bbq-ing, and thanks to our quick-wits, we managed to continue cooking, under our umbrella.

Bukit Batok / Jurong Town
The name Jurong is probably derived from the Malay word jerung, which means a “shark”. There were, however, no sharks around today when I took a short stroll around the dear town. Instead, there was a carnivorous bird.

Chinese New Year Day 4
Oh animals also celebrate Chinese New Year, and today I met Terence’s Chinchilla. It’s faster than a speeding rabbit, more hyper than an active hamster and very much nocturnal.

Chinese New Year Day 2
Which Chinese New Year is complete without the annual tossing of yusheng? This year’s tossing was quite chaotic, and gosh, even my Ah ma had to take cover.
